What is American Power Yoga?
American Power Yoga is for everyone, from the first-time exerciser timidly stepping foot into the studio to the long-time yogi looking for a new challenge. American Power Yoga provides an opportunity for each person in every class to find and challenge their physical and mental limits, without alienating others who are new or may have physical limitations. The movements are simple and easy to follow, and American Power Yoga instructors offer modifications and intensifications for all poses, helping both men and women feel comfortable in every class. Instructions are concise and in English , providing an opportunity for a balanced and complete physical workout that also allows the body to relax and the mind to find focus and calm.
American Power Yoga was designed to share the powerful tools found in yoga with as many people as possible. The poses practiced in each class can be modified or intensified at the will of the student so that all who come to class can safely challenge themselves and explore the moment.
The physical challenges of the poses and movements simply represent the daily life challenges that people face. The instructors offer many different physical challenges so each student can find themselves in a challenging place or expose and accept a weakness. By going through the challenges calmly and accepting or even embracing the poses a student cannot do, practitioners understand that they don’t have to be controlled by external forces. We do not have to be victims to our experiences.
That is the real power of the practice. That is yoga.
