Open Classes
Yoga
One of the most accessible and effective styles of yoga offered today. All classes are 60 minutes and open to all levels. We combine a unique blend of Tai Chi, Chi Gung, Flow Yoga, Philosophy and Fun! All poses can be modified or intensified, so YOU set the intensity. This makes it great for the beginner and intense for the seasoned practitioner or athlete. The room is gently heated to 85 degrees and humidity of about 65%. It’s safer and easier to stretch out your muscles when they are warm, but we also encourage you to take breaks on your mat. With the regulated temperature of the room you won’t have to work up the body’s heat all over again. You can get back into class still warm and safe. You will burn calories, build flexibility, gain strength, release tension, and cultivate focus.
APY Conditioning
An upbeat class that borrows effective training techniques from around the world such as Tai Chi, Chi Gung, Cardio and conditioning movements from kung fu, ju-jitsu and western strength and rehabilitation techniques to develop speed, balance, strength and grace. Classes are 45 minutes and all open level.
Lightening Fire Mountain System-Tibetan Martial Arts (LFM)
The Tibetan spirit is expressed in many ways–as a philosophy, lifestyle, and code of ethics. The Tibetan word for Warrior, Pa-Wo, literally means one who is brave. It is a compassionate bravery, developed through self discipline, systematic training, and hard work. A true warrior in the Tibetan sense cares deeply for other people.
Over the centuries, lamas used martial arts to teach peaceful bravery; a path to harmony, honor, and highest values. Tibetan martial arts maintain universal love and harmony as ideals, but train a warrior’s edge by balancing mind and body, cultivating physical skills, attentiveness, vitality, adaptability, and the readiness and willingness to act in conflict. This is the essence of studying Tibetan martial arts and following the Warrior’s path.
We are very happy to announce that Roger Stainbrook will be instructing the Lightening Fire Mountain System of Tibetan Martial Arts in our new studio space. It is mainly from this system that American Power Yoga was born. This is a true system consisting of 7 levels, however all classes are open and taught in the traditional way, where senior students train the new ones. So if you are curious, just come to class and check it out! Each class is 90 minutes.
